The most dreadful thing to happen in a relationship is uncertainty. Especially if your friendship with the new entrant in your life is of few weeks or months, then the chances of trusting such a person blindly can be quite risky. Your inclinations towards him could be honest but you are not sure of his feelings or intentions.

Once you sense or suspect that the guy is not very serious about you or he is using you, talk to a common friend or discuss the matter with a confidant that can help you get some unknown information, which could be helpful in stopping you from proceeding any further in such a relation. If the guy is really of bad reputation he cannot hide it for too long anyway.
Do you feel he is desperate?
The guy might be in constant search of opportunities to get physical with you or he might be gaping at other girls or making lewd comments while he is in your company.
These are a few indications that suggest his intentions and if you are not at ease in his company, you definitely need to think about him again. After all nobody deserves to be used or cheated. And for god’s sake there are many fish in the pond!
